추상화를 바라보는 시각을 조금은 유머스럽게 풀어낸 제목인 <로비 머디 카펫 >은 이 시대 추상을 대하는 태도이다. 높은 천장과 안락한 소파를 둔 호텔 로비, 그 곳에 걸린 거대한 크기의 추상 회화는 어떤 상상과 감정, 이야기와 의심을 차단한다. 같은 공간, 대리석 바닥 위 진창이 된 카펫은 과거 모더니스트들의 추상화처럼 영적이고, 이지적이며, 우아하지 않다. 오히려 뜨겁고, 신체적이고, 즉각적이다. 이처럼 여기에 모인 작가들은 추상을 하나의 이념이나 형식으로 보지않고 자연스러운 행위로 받아들인다. 그리고 질퍽한 물감이 마르기를 기다리는 캔버스 앞에서의 늘어진 시간과 스크린 속 정보들의 휘발되는 속도를 같은 공간에서 동시에 경험할 때, 두 공간을 순간이동한 듯 감당 못할 시차(jet-lag)를 몸으로 느끼기도 한다. 신체, 물질, 속도에 반응하며 나타난 포스트-디지털 이후 새로운 감각의 아날로그 추상을 감상하기 위해 이 곳에 방문했다면, 투박하고 거친 붓 자국 사이로 촘촘히 짜여진 섬세한 감각과 손에 잡히지 않는 현 사회의 숨가쁜 속도를 차곡차곡 끈적하게 기록한 작품들 사이로 천천히 걸어보길 바란다.  

The title “Lobby Muddy Carpet”,  a humorous way of solving the point of view of abstraction, is an attitude toward abstraction of today. The hotel lobby with high ceilings and sleek sofas is an abstract painting of a huge size that turns away any imagination, feelings, stories and suspicions. The same space, carpets that have become muddy on the marble floor, are not as spiritual, intelligent, and graceful as the abstractions of the modernists of the past. It is rather hot, physical and immediate. As such, artists gathered here do not regard abstracts as a single ideology or form, but as natural acts. And when you experience the sagging time in front of the canvas waiting for the damp paint to dry and the volatile speed of the information in the screen at the same time, you can feel the jet-lag that you can not cope with. If you are here to appreciate the analogue abstraction of the new senses after post-digital reaction in response to body, material, and speed, I want you to take a slow walk through the delicate senses woven tightly together through the rough and heavy brush marks recording the breathtaking speed of the current society which cannot be caught in your hand.
