“PAINTSCAPES” deals with CG landscapes based on fractal abstract painting. "Paintscapes" investigate J. Pollock's technique of dripping, digitize it in its micro-scale and promote it to a virtual three-dimensional landscape.
The theoretical and technological research of "PAINTSCAPES" is related to nature and its scientific research through literature on the field of Fractals' aesthetics, nature's aesthetics and landscape's aesthetics, but also through new artistic audiovisual tools and methods. i.e.real-time audio reactive music videos, audio visual perfomances.
By sensitizing the public towards the fractal images of nature, we all achieve our prosperous approach to reality.
PAINTSCAPES
Its method of construction is divided into 5 stages and is characterized by analogue and digital media:
1) Creating Abstract Expressionism as J. Pollock did, using brushes, syringe and watercolors. It has been examined whether the resulting artwork is a fractal image. R. Taylor et al (1999), Mureika et al., (2004), Coddington et al. (2008).
2) Using a microscope with a digital camera for capturing these fractals as perceived scenes of landscapes.
3) Using 3d software to extrude the photographic images in order to create a three-dimensional landscape.
4) Creating a 3d animation that will include a viewing from virtual camera. The purpose is the new environment's exploration.
5) Finally the creation of live visuals which include real-time visual effects driven by the audio input of a sound track.
