Everyday Abstraction_Photo Art
Toronto-based mixed media artist Madeleine Gross is seeking to explore how the abstract and her imaginative works interact from the everyday.
She is a media artist and photographer, who has developed a body of work that combines acrylic brush strokes with photographic prints. If you look at the work, she drips paint on the surface of own photographs shot in all over North America and splashes layers of paint in an expressive fashion.
Her latest work focuses on creating subtle stories by drawing unexpected landscapes from the certain symbolic places.
Adding a few bright strokes of paint to her pictures is her visceral attempt to make a new story, and it tries to create a tangible quality by being expressed in various colors. Also, by adding a sense of reality between candid photographs and the abstract works, she might bring out a pleasant feeling to the viewers.
This work adds the depth to the emotional image in her picture as it is projected into the abstract elements. She says in an interview, “I am trying to emulate an immersive reality for viewers and induce the sensation of actually being there just by looking”. Her work can be found at the site link below.
