20세기 초, 우주를 무대로 전개되는 SF소설을 일컫는 ‘스페이스 오페라’는 문학으로부터 소외되어 경멸받는 장르로서 시작됐다. 20세기 중반 이후부터는 할리우드에서 SF 영화가 활발하게 제작된다. 그 당시의 SF 장르는 공황과 냉전 등의 시대적 징후를 드러내는 한편, 산업과 예술의 이종교배가 낳은 욕망의 지형도를 그려냈다. 그것은 장르를 세분화하며 다양한 예술적 소행성을 발견해나갔다. 그 배경에는 행성 이주와 개발을 감행하려는 진취적인 태도가 있었지만, 결국 장르를 도착적으로 수행하는 괴물을 양산하게 되고 만다. 이 초월성은 이후 동시대 예술 매체와 장르의 틈을 메우는 장치인 동시에 창작 제도의 결함을 포착하는 장치이기도 하다.

21세기의 공상과학적 상상력과 가설은 20세기적 몽상의 역사와 달리 인류의 진취성을 엿보는 데 중요한 역할을 한다. 더불어 그 진취성은 인간의 연극적 성향이 작동하면서 징후적으로 갱신된다. <금지된 계획>은 스페이스 오페라의 요소와 인간의 연극성을 다룬다. 무대라는 가설의 우주 환경이 연극적으로 수행되는 방식에 관한 이 공연은 총 2부작으로 구성된다.

Although 'Space Opera' referring to Sci-Fi was treated with contempt alleged incompetency in literary value when it appeared in the early 20th century, in the mid-20th century, it was produced by film and screened vigorously in Hollywood. Sci-Fi as a genre was considered to be a sign of symptoms of the Great Depression and the Cold War, at the same representing the outcome of the hybridization of industry and art. This genre was defined in details developing various artistic small planets. However, in spite of its adventurous spirit seeking to the planetary migration and development, it ended up with fetish of monstrous genre.

Now, it is not only an apparatus filling up a gap of various media and genre of contemporary art, but also a sensor signaling the mal-function of creative institution. Departing from romantic imagination of 20th century, the Sci-Fi imagination of 21th century takes an important role in humanity's progressive spirit. Besides, that progressive spirit renews its own signs as our theatrical tendencies act on it. "The Forbidden Plan" includes elements of a space opera, and addresses humanity's theatricality. This piece consists of two parts and is about how the hypothetical outer-space environment of the stage is theatrically performed.
