The exhibition opens on Thursday the 2nd. July 2026.
Cihan Çakmak studied photography at Dortmund University of Applied Sciences and Arts and at the Leipzig University of Applied Sciences, where she became a master student of Prof. in 2023. Tina Bara graduated. In her photographs, drawings, videos and texts, she addresses questions of identity, memory, self-image and collective spaces of experience.
The exhibition breaking is reflectiongathers early and current photographs as well as drawings – always in the tension between distance and proximity, memory and reality, emancipation and external determination, reflection and distortion.

The writer Fabian Saul writes in his text about the exhibition:
"You say: Sometimes it helps to swap the self and the you. Just as an experiment. The sentence remains the same. But its direction is changing. What just appeared as a description of another person can be read as a self-experiment. The shift is small. Their consequences are not. It is impossible to bridge this distance. We are left with the difference. It's not me.
