Participants will be guided through the process of harmonizing music and visuals to create immersive live shows in real-time. We will learn about the relationships between VJing and DJing, electronic music, visual arts, and computing arts. We will also consider the use of multimedia, poetry, installations, and dance as conduits to elevate audiovisual narratives.
London-based interdisciplinary artist Dr. Blanca Regina will offer hands-on instruction with Madmapper software, a multimedia performance tool used to manipulate video, lighting, lasers, and sound. By the end of the course, participants will be able to create unique visuals in a variety of performance contexts and spaces. Everyone is welcome to bring their own music and sounds for synchronization.
This course is generously supported by Madmapper and includes a one-month full-access temporary license of the software. The software also has an extensive visual library to choose from. Ideal for musicians, stage designers, visual artists, and anyone with an interest in audiovisual art.
Open to all levels.
