Yokohama Dance Collection Competition
Yokohama Dance Collection, whose 25th edition will be held in 2020, began in 1996 with the aim to discover and nurture up-and-coming choreographers as well as to promote contemporary dance. The competition, which is at the core of the festival, emphasizes choreographic uniqueness from artists who bring a fresh and contemporary perspective on the body and its expression. To date it has selected some 400 groups of choreographers as finalists to present their work and over 110 winners for the Jury Prize and others prizes, propelling their careers forward both in Japan and abroad.
We encourage choreographers to believe in what they can express through their art and contribute to society, and to pave the way for the future of creativity.
