In the exhibition by Anne Jungjohann and Enrico Niemann we are dealing with complex processes that create tactile image objects through folding and unfolding. In their own unique approach, both artists show and hide the subtlety of painted and folded surfaces. This creates image objects that move between two- and three-dimensionality. In this context, the term ‘manifolds’, otherwise referring to a variety of sensual impressions and likewise to complex surfaces and spaces, means to deform and challenge material to create an unexpected variety of shapes and motives.
