<Radio Shower>는 눈에는 보이지 않지만, 하나의 그림자로서 도시를 구성하고 있는 3-3000MHz의 빠르게 진동하고있는 전자기파의 소리, 이미지를 탐험하는 전시 및 퍼포먼스이다. 일반적인 사람들의 생각과는 달리 라디오 웨이브(전파)는 라디오 방송을 듣는 대역의 주파수 (87.5-108.0MHz)만을 의미하지 않는다. 아마추어 무선 통신사들의 사적인 대화, 항공주파수로 들어보는 비행기의 이동 소리, 공사장 무전기의 웅얼거림, 인공위성의 알 수 없는 신호음 등 국적과 인종을 초월한 세상의 우연한 소리가 이 영역 대에 담겨져 있다. 단순하게 말하자면, 이번 음감회의 목적은 3MHz – 3000MHz 영역대의 주파수를 들어보는 것이다. 어찌 보면 이 단순하고 의미 없는 행동들은 인간이 들을 수 있는 영역을 초월한 파동(wave)이라는 것을 감안한다면, 초당 30,000 – 300,000번 진동하는 웨이브들을 감상하고 더 나아가 이 전파들과 공명하여 보는 것이다. 마치 어렸을 적 목적 없이 떨어지는 빗물에 자유롭게 몸을 적시 듯, 우리 주변에 항시 존재하는 전파들을 받아들이고 점차 잊혀져 가는 것들에 대해 고찰하고자 한다.

Focusing on radio waves, Radio Shower attempts to listen to electromagnetic waves with frequencies lower than 3 GHz. This work explores the ecosystem of sounds from this particular range of frequencies which are widely used for ham radio communications, aviation communication, broadcasting, wireless computer networks, and satellite signals. It is on repeat but, through generative algorithms, it plays differently every time. This performance can be viewed as a computer improvisation. The artist hopes it will become part of the ecosystem of wherever it is played after it leaves his hands.

-한 회차가 종료된 이후에도 더 머무르다 가실 수 있습니다.
-계단을 내려가시면 신발을 벗고 입장해서 자유롭게 이동하며 관람하실 수 있습니다.
-앉거나 누운 편안한 상태에서 듣는 것을 권장합니다. 전시장에 비치되어 있는 방석을 제공해 드립니다.

-The exhibition is accompanied by sound and video works and takes about 50 minutes.
-You can stay longer after one round is over.
- If you go down the stairs, you can take off your shoes to enter and move around freely.
- It is recommended to listen while sitting or lying down comfortably. We provide cushions provided in the exhibition hall.
