The sculptures you see before you were developed during a 2024 artist residency in Onishi, Japan, in a place whose solitude and simplicity allowed for deeper exploration of form and material. These pieces are displayed alongside newer works that continue this meditative practice of making through repetition.
While each echoes the other, these sculptures return in different forms, never the same yet always connected. Together, they do not aim to tell a singular narrative, rather they offer moments of quiet contemplation. Opportunities to pause, reflect, and tune into the rhythms of repetition and fleeting thought. Akin to memory, the figures are fluid, occasionally clear and sometimes distorted, but ultimately shaped by the time and space in which they are encountered.

ABOUT THE ARTIST
Having gone by ‘A Whispering Campaign' in the past, Kit forges a new path in his artistic journey without a front. His practice revolves around the act of repetition and the quiet fixation on ephemeral thoughts, which informs his current body of work. Beginning with familiar forms, - a recurring face, a shifting torso, a balancing object - then building into meditations on presence, material, and memory.
Kit’s approach to creation is intuitive. Each piece begins without a predetermined outcome and is shaped by the characteristics of the material, the limitations of time, and the nuances of process. Repetition becomes a way of being present, and through making, he resists the need for meaning or conclusion. These sculptures are not symbols, but echoes - variations of the same note played with slight shifts in breath.
In late 2024, Kit participated in a residency at Shiro Oni Studio in Onishi, Japan, where he began working with ceramic clay for the first time. This marked a return to his intuitive creation in an environment with endless time, community and space. Hesitant to call himself an artist, he continues to find meaning in “making stuff” ‐ a practice that grounds him and offers moments of clarity within the noise of daily life.
