Services
In general, the duration of residency is currently limited to one to three months. Studio and living quarters will be provided free of charge. In addition, the artist-in-residence will also receive a sum of 1.300,- Euros per month.
In some cases AIR Krems can facilitate the presentation of projects developed in Krems or previously planned artwork. Generally speaking, AIR events are realized in cooperation with a number of art institutions in Lower Austria and Vienna with the aim of establishing a permanent place for AIR projects in the annual programs of these institutions, thus integrating the grant recipients in the Austrian art and artist scene.
Programs
AIR—ARTIST IN RESIDENCE seeks to contribute to the internationalization of art in our country and to promote a process of interdisciplinary exchange in the arts. Since this international exchange takes place primarily on an institutionalized level, private applications can only be accepted as an exception.
The basic prerequisite for funding is a degree in a field of art (university level). If the applicant does not have a university degree, proof of equivalent ability must be provided through his or her artistic career. In any case, the applicant must demonstrate regular artistic activity in the proposed areas of funding. Applicants can be artists from the areas of visual arts, music, sound art, literature, and architecture. Austrian artists and artists residing in Austria are not eligible to apply.
Participants will be determined by an advisory council for the given discipline.
The application deadline for each upcoming year is May 30th (postmark).
We do not accept applications via e-mail.
Application material which has been submitted will not be returned.
Incomplete applications will not be considered.
A notification will be send unexceptionally at a positive conclusion of the selection process.
