Beautiful, moving and timely, 'People We Love' explores the invisible transaction between a person, a piece of art and that emotion which bonds us all. Three, floor mounted, high definition screens exquisitely lit, will show a portrait of a Selby citizen. Each person is gazing at a picture of someone they love. This community inspired artwork, created by artist Kit Monkman (KMA), has toured internationally. Now Selby residents have their chance to be part of this global story.
What would it sound and feel like to be inside of a bubble? 'Inner Horizons' invites you to step inside a deceptive, inner landscape of a scale that we, as humans, cannot usually experience. This immersive piece (first commissioned and exhibited in the Asia Culture Center in Gwangju, South Korea) is the work of Yorkshire based Cat Scott who uses STEM processes, and wave phenomena to make kinetic sculptures, installations, and experiences.
For music-lovers, Mediale are excited to have critically acclaimed avant-folk artist Richard Dawson, for a special one-night-only gig. Richard, whose songs describe a reality ‘’somewhere between the world we know and a virtual space in which the lines between history, mythology and imagination blur” will be playing his latest album. The Ruby Cord, a journey into an immersive metaverse created by one of the most talented musicians and songwriters of his generation.
Mediale's 'Selby Creates' Winter Arts Programme brings world class artists and artworks together with the Selby creative community, offering a unique opportunity for local audiences, professional artists and young and emerging creatives to explore new artistic practices across music, digital art, and dance. Partnering with Selby College up to 30 of the district’s most promising young creatives will take part, learning new skills and forging new connections. / Selby Abbey
