VAEFF 2018 will run between November 8 and 11 at the Tribeca Film Center in New York City. The festival will conclude with a gala reception where artists, panelists, and the general public will enjoy food, an open bar, and a live performance.
Every year, VAEFF receives hundreds of submissions from artists and filmmakers from around the world. In addition to the official selection, VAEFF invited international emerging and established artists possessing a wide range of viewpoints and with exceptional bodies of work.
Established in 2010 (NYC), the Video Art & Experimental Film Festival (VAEFF) is a non-profit project that introduces New York audiences to the most conceptually and aesthetically arresting, daring and provocative video arts and experimental films from around the world. VAEFF embraces a boundary-expanding spectrum of work that also includes fashion films and music videos. The three-day festival features special programs, such as “Beauty, Sex and Shame,” which depicts the intersections of these themes as expressed through art, fashion, and music videos.
Over the years, VAEFF has attracted many prestigious artists and scholars to its lively panel discussions, including Alanna Heiss (founder of MoMA PS1), David Ross (former director of the Whitney and SFMOMA), Kalup Linzy (award-winning video and performance artist), Jason Sondhi (co-founder of Short of the Week and lead curator of Vimeo Staff Picks), and Ziggy Levin (executive producer for Art + Commerce and faculty member at SVA).
