The exhibition will open with a Vernissage on Friday the 13th of October, from 6–10pm, where you can meet the artist and enjoy a drink.
Flyn Vibert is a photographer, artist, and scientist exploring alternative and experimental processes on the portrait image. A practice which they call ‘organic photography’. That is images made by hand, without digital manipulation. This involves transforming and re-photographing existing photographs through a series of physical processes. All of which were self-taught from years of trial and error. Their main focus is on the idea of (re)using everyday household items and non-traditional art materials. These vary from direct interventions such as burning or freezing the image, to more experimental approaches using hair gel, nail polish, slime, toothpaste, wax, and other ‘secret formulas’.
The body of work presented here is a culmination of several years of work exploring the idea that not only can anything be used to make art, but anywhere. A number of these images originate from Covid-19 lockdown 2020–22 when Flyn first began experimenting with making art in their shower, transforming the space into a makeshift studio where they could burn, freeze, melt and create images safely at home. It was a revelation that allowed them to keep creating throughout the pandemic.
All of the original photographs are portraits which have been shot by Flyn over the last six years. Photographs of friends, artists, musicians, fashion designers, filmmakers, and other creatives. All of these images will be presented alongside their transformed versions.
THE EXHIBITION WILL CLOSE WITH A FINISSAGE ON SUNDAY OCTOBER 29TH, FROM 2–8PM, AND WILL FEATURE A LIVE PHOTOSHOOT, PERFORMANCE AND ARTIST TALK FROM FLYN VIBERT, DEMONSTRATING SOME OF THEIR PROCESSES AND DISCUSSING THEIR PRACTICE WITH AN AUDIENCE.
Limited seating will be available for this, so please get in touch with the artist on info@flynvibert.com if you wish to book a timeslot. Alternatively you may of course arrive at your convenience on the day.

BIOGRAPHY
Flyn has spent the years since graduating from Central Saint Martins and the London College of Fashion developing a unique style and approach to photography, which involves transforming and re-photographing images through a constantly evolving series of physical processes and interactions.
Their work focuses on the idea of (re)using everyday household items and objects, and putting them together in ways not normally applied in an arts context. These vary from more direct interventions such as burning or freezing the image, to working with non-traditional materials such as hair gel, nail polish, slime, toothpaste, and other ‘secret formulas’. One reason they refer to themself as a scientist as well as a photographer and artist.
The unknown is what fascinates in the visual world of Flyn Vibert. It is through the process of making that they write their stories and in doing so translate them into photographs.
