Artwork Description / Artist Note
Title: fragmentary gaze, In progress//No357.

Like the rabbit oysters of Alice in Wonderland, I work to find another world from a fragmentary image of everyday life.

Reality is chained by the flowing time and is metaphorically recognized by the continuum of past, present, and future.

But I instantaneously break the flow across such a complex entanglement that is connected.

This is to recognize reality as a fragment that breaks the flow, not the continuous flow.

I place a meaning on the fragmentary reconstruction act itself rather than the meaning of the object.

The meaning is not defined uniformly by power or custom, but by the accumulation of personal experience.

This meaning is made subjective, and I want to focus on how I approach it rather than the meaning of the object.

My fragmentary gaze always takes me to the rabbit oyster.

I have been constantly exploring the nature of human beings.

I have been working on various approaches from the viewpoint of existence that can not be defined in a specific meaning.

By using self portrait to reconstruct a body that has been disassembled and reorganized several times,

I tried to show that he was a weak person who could not escape from the deficiency of death.

In reality, however, humans carry on a lot of effort and action to forget it. It is to manifest the will of satisfying desire which is natural instinct as human being.

As soon as I approach the dreaming ideal, I realize that all these problems will be resolved, but soon after that I slip back into the hell of deficiency.

The unconscious flows into the gap of this poor consciousness and draws man back into the swamp of anxiety.

Man, who always stands at the border of life and death, remains weak.

But even so, the will to pursue the will of survival and to find its meaning is also the essence of man.

It is a weak and deficient being at the border of life and death, and lives on with the will of survival, even if it dwells in the swamp of desire.

I find a human lonely willingness not to lose the will of survival even in suffering and hurt in the persistent vitality of the blossom, which nobody knows but overcomes the harsh winter.

This work, which comes naturally from my personal experience and memory, always brings me back to the question of human nature and draws me into dialogue with myself.
