Lesson by Eva-Maria Geigl, directed by Chintis Lundgren.
The video explains, “Unlike dogs, who have undergone centuries of selective breeding, modern-day cats are genetically very similar to ancient cats.” In ancient times, wildcats were fierce carnivorous hunters. And unlike dogs, who have undergone centuries of selective breeding, modern cats are genetically very similar to ancient cats. How did these solitary, fierce predators become our sofa sidekicks? Eva-Maria Geigl traces the domestication of the modern house cat. The animation details how, between 7000 BCE and c. 1700 BCE, cats were first only tolerated by Neolithic farmers who benefitted from their hunting skills.
