The artist’s studio Uster was founded in 1993 by the former AKKU association and managed and cared for by the same organisation.
On June 1, 1997, the Artist’s Studio Uster Association was founded, which has been managing the studio since then.
The association, funded by members, patrons and sponsors, contributes towards promoting cultural activities in the town of Uster, stimulates the cultural scene and enhances the public image of the town.
The studio is made available free of charge for half a year on the basis of a selection process that is advertised in public.
The objective is supporting freelance artists; the studio is located on a former spinning mill in Uster.
The association organizes a visit to the studio for its members on the occasion of the annual general meeting and a one-day culture tour in autumn. The artist rounds off his/her half a year in the art container. Along with this exhibition a catalogue of the work created during the half-year is then published and patrons are presented with a print made by the artist.
The committee operates free of charge and is composed as follows:
Board
Martin Reukauf, presidium, artist, Zürich
Roger Moos, architect, member of the cultural commisson, Uster
Lucas Nicolussi, archivist, Wermatswil
Karin Plaschy, art historian, Pfäffikon
