A Conversation with Keith Haring… presents a body of work exploring the historical and contemporary discourse of the AIDS/HIV crisis. The exhibition brings together a body of work addressing issues related to societal pressures, ideologies and stigma.

Keith Haring was an iconic figure in 1980s New York, playing a key role in his generation’s counterculture and creating an immediately recognisable style. As an openly gay man, Haring’s work as an AIDS activist and educator remains his most essential legacy.

Building upon Haring’s legacy alongside contemporary discourse presented an opportunity to bring a new narrative to a modern audience.

Haring was an obvious choice as a prominent ADIS activist and an openly gay man living with AIDS through the height of the crisis. Using historical and contemporary discourse has established the foundations of an ongoing conversation to a modern audience’ Aaron James Murphy

The exhibition presents writing, sound, print and painting and held online from 9th-23rd January 2021.

Keith Haring’s career was brief, and on 16 February 1990 he died of AIDS-related complications at the age of 31.
