이 전시관에서는 1년 주기로 반복되는 농경생활과 사계절의 변화에 맞춰 삶을 살아온 조선시대(1392~1910) 사람들의 생활상을 전시하고 있다. 살기 좋은 곳에 터를 잡은 한국의 마을은 사람들이 모여 살아온 최소 단위의 생활공간이다. 이 터에서 가꾸어온 사람들의 다양한 일상을 봄·여름·가을·겨울의 차례로 볼 수 있고, 아울러 마을과 마을, 사람과 사람, 물자와 물자를 서로 연결해주는 문화와 교역의 장(場)인 시장에서는 한국인의 일상 전반을 볼 수 있다. 사계절의 순환이라는 자연현상에 맞추어 살며 만들어낸, 농경세시를 바탕으로 한 생업·의식주·공예 등의 다양한 일상을 만날 수 있다.
