The exhibition ›Trans_plantationen‹ focuses on the moment of relocation as a multi-layered border crossing between countries, social groups, genders and identities. An installation by Anuja Fernando asks what memories remain in a fleeting place such as an asylum shelter when people have long ceased to live there. The two-channel installation ›Bacha Posch‹ by Yalda Afsah and Ginan Seidl questions binary social structures by emphasizing the performativity of gender-based role attributions. Through atmospheric images of cityscapes and close-ups, the installation tells the story of a 13-year-old Afghan girl growing up as a boy in Mazar-i-Sharif, who consciously assumes the duties and freedoms of her role. The collectively created installation ›Rhizom‹ shows plant imprints of the disappearing green space ›Place Internationale‹ embroidered on paper and fabric.
