Daisies (Věra Chytiiová) , 1966
An experimental film about two girls who rebel against society; Daisies was pivotal in the development of the Czech New Wave film movement in the 1960s. Made under an oppressive communist rule, the 1966 film gave a voice to Czechoslovakia and as swiftly banned. The film experiments with different filmic techniques from camera tricks to colour tinting and match-cut editing to create a very visually stimulating film. This coupled with the anti-authority message that runs the piece makes the film very punk!
