In her Los Angeles solo gallery exhibition "Light Stream," artist L. Aviva Diamond brings to mind the expanding universe of Big Bang theory contained in the most fundamental movements and refractions of water and light: envisioning the universe of stars and galaxies in crashing waves, frothing bubbles, and silent reflections. This is the spiritual aspect of water and art as a form of meditation.

Diamond's large-scale, immersive abstract photographs position the viewer in an ambiguous cosmology where the boundaries between water and sky, earth and air, ripples and stars become blurred. Water and light merge to become creation and destruction, then flow with the power and swirling energies of the universe made and unmade and made again.

"Diamond allows viewers to slip beneath a shifting surface to reach something far deeper, an ethereal and transcendent cosmology, from which she shapes work that transport and expand." - Genie Davis, Diversions LA

L. Aviva Diamond began taking photos at age 12. She received an MS in journalism from Columbia University, shot and reported for The Miami Herald and then embarked on a career in television reporting – receiving an Emmy for her local work in St. Louis and moving to Los Angeles as a network correspondent for ABC News. She later established her own corporate media training business, which flourished for more than twenty years.

In 2014, she turned to a professional pursuit of her first love – art -- was accepted for membership in the Los Angeles Art Association and was included in a group show at LAAA’s Gallery 825. Since then, her work has been included in exhibits at the Griffin Museum of Photography, the Palm Springs Art Museum, Neutra Institute Gallery, The Center for Fine Art Photography, the Latino Art Museum and various Southern California galleries.
